Education for smart buildings (HI-SMART)
HI-SMART
The main goal of the HI-SMART project (Higher Education Package for Nearly Zero Energy and Smart Building Design) is to develop an innovative educational package aimed at higher education students and professionals in Hungary, Slovakia and Germany to learn about the design, construction and to support the operation of intelligent, energy-efficient buildings.
The Hi-Smart project aims to provide current and future engineers involved in sustainable building technologies with multidisciplinary knowledge of architecture, engineered building systems and electrical engineering. On the way to planning "zero energy buildings" in greater numbers, this project supports the European directive on the energy performance of buildings and also helps to enable the mandatory introduction of the concept of "Nearly Zero Energy Buildings" (NZEB) in 2021.
As part of the project, Hungarian (Budapest University of Technology and Economics), German (Technical University of Kaiserslautern) and Slovakian (Slovenska Technicka Univerzita Bratislave) universities are working together to create new, complete study material for B.Sc and M.Sc students in the to create a higher education area and to offer short intensive training courses for construction professionals. In all three countries, the project aims to address problems in the construction industry due to the lack of highly qualified workers.
The project runs from 2019 to 2022 and is supported by the Erasmus+ program.
