HiPerCon - High Performance Composite Constructions
Composite constructions offer high performance with minimised material input due to the appropriate use of the materials involved. This research field has been worked on at the Technische Universität Kaiserslautern for several decades. In the “Forschungsschwerpunkt” (research focus) HiPerCon, the research field is now being expanded, starting with load-bearing capacity, to develop high-performance multifunctional components. Typical additional functionalities are the targeted use of resource-optimised materials as well as fire protection and building physics properties.
Another important field of research is joining technology for the production of composite components. Here, new joining techniques such as adhesive bonding are being investigated as well as known methods of fastening technology. An important goal here is to bundle the existing expertise in the field of different fastening techniques and make them accessible to new applications.
In the fields of modelling, simulation and visualisation, there is an important interface to the “Forschungsschwerpunkt” (CM²). In the field of renewable building materials, HiPerCon cooperates with the university's “Potenzialbereich” (potential area) of Wood Engineering.
